Don’t talk and drive

From 27th February, if you talk on a mobile phone whilst driving in the UK, you risk getting a £60 fine plus 3 points on your licence. Although it has been illegal to talk without using a handsfree for some time now, the stakes are raised and the penalties increased if you are caught with a hand held mobile.

It is still legal to use a hands free car kit, as long as you don’t touch the phone at any point in the process. As many of the latest camera phones have bluetooth fitted as standard, a bluetooth car kit could help in this regard.

The RAC Foundation has released detials of research into the sales techniques of bleutooth car kits including one assistant who suggested that you throw the hone down if you see a police car.

They also set out some common sense suggestions to driving safely and legally.
