Sony Ericsson Satio To Be Discontinued

Perhaps not unsurprisingly, the 12 mega pixel Sony Ericsson Satio received some good reviews and is riding high in Vodafone’s list of most popular camera phones of the moment.

This is despite reports that because of certain issues, both Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U took the decision back towards the end of November to withdraw the handset from their shelves and are also offering to replace the handset for customers who are not happy with it.

Reported problems include issues with the interface, as well as freezing, crashing and battery problems.

Sony responded to the issues with a statement to the effect that

Sony Ericsson confirms that it has been made aware that a small number of consumers have experienced software issues with its Satio handset when using certain applications

There were hopes that these issues could be resolved however it would seem that these earlier problems heralded a premature end to the Satio as Vodafone UK have also now advised that the handset is to be discontinued. It is still showing on the Sony Ericsson list of current devices, and available with a number of retailers, but if the Satio was your most desired phone, and you are yet to get one, time may be running out.
